    Setting Rules for Conditional Formating

    Hello, so far the forum has been great, I think I have an easy question, but if I can get a little guidence that would be a huge help.

    I think I have figured out my rules that I need to set to achieve my end result, eessentially I would like to change a cells color, based on the value that is entered, as it is compared to a Target % in a different Row. I have attache a sample with the rules set for one Cell that is colored. My questions is, is there a quick way to apply the rules to multiple cells inside a spread sheet, or will I have to set the rules for each individual cell?

    Thanks for the Help!

    Go into the CF dialog and use the Applies To refedit to select all cells to apply it to.

    The only issue with that is the rules correspond to a specific Cell for example in the spreadsheet attached J1 gets its info from J3 to apply the rules, so I need to have K1 get its info from K3 and so on.

    its not just based form General numbers, it utalizes variable numbers so each cell has to look at a corrisponding cell, in order to apply the rule.

    Change the column reference in the formula to relative, i.e. $J$3 to J$3

    I'm sorry, and this might seem like an obvious question, but can you explain the above in somewhat simpler terms please so that I can understand the difference between the 2.

    @writeguy37

    The absoulute reference,$J$3, will make all the cells in every column to calculate according J3 value!

    The relative reference(j$3), will make the cells to calulate, according it's column value!
