    Pivot Table Calculating Incorrectly?

    Hi, all,

I am a rank novice with respect to pivot tables. But I do understand what I am looking at. And I think this pivot table is wrong. But I don't know what to correct.

My pivot table is summarizing revenue of my company's products. By row I am showing region and by column I am showing product. For one particular combination, "korea", "widgets" the total is $14B. I know this number is wrong. So, I went to the data in another worksheet. I filtered out all countries but "korea" and all products but "widgets". I then select the total dollar value and the sum produces a more reasonable $8m. As a further check, I totaled every product we make in every region and the total is much less than $14B.

Why is the pivot table producing this very large number? Where is it coming from? How do I investigate further?

Go to your pivot table. Double click on the total that you believe is wrong. It will extract the data that underlies the total. This should help you debug the issue.
