    Lookup function/conditional formatting error

I'm trying to take data that is reported to me in an excel spreadsheet and create a graphical representation display pieces of that information using conditional formatting.

I have attached a VERY small example of what I'm talking about.

The end result is a "MAP" of thousands of locations of warehousing racking, and for the first piece I'm trying to use the velocity of the product as my indicators.
Eventually I'll use product value, weight, and many other variables for different reports.

I'm new to "advanced" exel. I thought I was good with excel until I undertook this project.

I am new/completely novice to access, so I'd prefer to use excel, but it's entirely possible that Access is the better tool for my end goal?

I'd love advice on best way about going about this project.

    First:

Is there an easy way to take a vertical list of locations like I have and assign them to the graphical location that I'm displaying horizontally in an easier fashion than I'm currently trying in the "Trial" sheet?

My Look up function only seems to be working on some of my cells... that I don't understand at all.

Thanks for any and all help.

    Re: Ideas, approach and execution

    Hi,

Can you explain what rules you are applying in order to arrive at your yellow, green, red and black cells on sheet 2. i.e. how do the values on sheet1 get reflected in sheet 2?

In addition on sheet 2 you have values like 'Zone-Aisle-Bay-Level 1', but on sheet3 '54-59-70-2-A' which doesn't exist on sheet 1. Why?

    Regards

Thank you for the reply Richard.

I have reuploaded the example and it should now have a value for 54-59-70-2-A

sheet 2 is purely what I would like the end project to look like, except obviously I have far more sets of racking to complete. Baby steps though... The red yellow and green criteria would be green if the weekly pick average is in the top half of the average for the entire column of weekly pick average, yellow would be less than half but greater than the lowest 25% and red is the lowest 25%. Black will eventually symbolize racking that is currently empty, but that is a secondary goal for now.

I added the value Zone-Aisle-Bay-Level to sheet 2 to explain the way in which my shelves are labeled, and if you look on sheet one you will see the associated columns and numbers.

    Thanks!

    Re: Ideas, approach and execution

How does say 54-59-103-2-C relate to one of the 4 rows (like Zone-Aisle-Bay-Level 1), on sheet 2?

It would be useful if you could give very specific examples of the rows containing the weekly pick averages and how those relate to the rows, columns & colours on sheet 2
