I am using Excel 2007. Excel has a nasty habit of reformatting data into currency (specifically dollars). For example, date fields reformat as currency. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for this. It happens randomly. Particularly frustrating in pivot tables. Does anybody know what is causing this and how to fix?

I can't say I've seen this behavior, but can you cite some examples of the data you are entering and the steps you're taking when creating the PT? Perhaps even upload a sample workbook so we can review.
