how to correctly use the IF function

i have a column in which all data in that column needs to be an "IF" clause.

as the information of the document is classified i will construct a made up example:

the problem is that i dont know how to apply this "find and replace" with a whole column of data as well as leaving anything that is data that doesnt need to be edited to be left alone...

is there any way i can do this "find and replace" sort of function and if so, can it be used in a macro?

If you highlight the whole column before applying the find/replace it should only search and replace in that column and not change anything outside of that column.
    Happy Excel'ing!

If i understand your requirements, you are looking to replace a model name with a manufacture's name?

If thats the case, and if you have a list of makes/manufacturers, then you can use a vlookup instead of a find/replace

have a look at the attached, and see if that is what you are after?

I'm really not sure what you're trying to do, but if it just boils down to doing a "find and replace" exercise then you should try using =SUBSTITUTE(). Type the formula into the cell and it will guide you through what you need to include - it's pretty simple.

Re: how to correctly use the IF function

ok so i do need to use the find/replace method as stated above and i get something like this:

however im not too sure what some parts of this mean, could anyone give me an explanation on these parts:
    LookAt:
SearchOrder: <-----(i think since im doing a "replace all" this doesnt even matter)
    MatchCase:
    SearchFormat:
    ReplaceFormat:

one further question is what im replacing the text with is larger then the cells width,
how can i include a space (like that of the "Alt+Return Key" to go beneath the current text

    thanks once again
