    Many Cities into few Regions

I'm using Excel 2010 and I have one column with 40 different cities. I need to match each city with one of 4 regions (each city only has one associated region). Aside from going through a few hundred rows and manually linking each city to a region, is there a way to automate this process?

    Thanks!

Why will it take a few hundred rows to match 40 different cities? Surely it will take 40 rows. You can do this automatically provided you have a table that contains all the cities matched to their regions. Assuming this is actually what you want to create, then the answer is no - there is no automated process.

What is the criteria that determines the region country is in. If you have some sort of indication on a table, then you can run a VLOOKUP on that specific value to return the country.

    Look at the attached.
