Thumbs down Formula to input time after selection from drop down boxes

    Hi,
I'm new and a beginner to Excel so go easy on me please!!

I want to make up a sheet with drop down boxes for the option of choosing:-
    1/ Size and weight
    2/ Material Grade
    3/ Connection

Once the three drop down options have been chosen eg.
    5 1/2" 17# 13cr80 Vam Top

It would then show a timing (minutes and seconds) to show how long the above connection takes to cut on a CNC Lathe.

    Is this possible??

Bearing in mind there is probably hundreds of variations, will this be achievable using various formulas or is it just too much work??

    Thanks for reading,

    Stuart

    Re: Beginners Help please??

Stug, all this seams posible but a sample sheet would be handy to work from.
You will also be told I'm sure to read the forum rules concerning your title and make some changes.

Re: Drop down boxes with formulas?

    Thanks Barry,
The problem is that my boss is basically wanting to know how long each individual connection takes to cut.

I'm not sure I can collaborate any data together to make the formula easier.

Every single change, may that be material grade, or , connection, will alter the time.

I'm not sure i'm explaining this very well!!

Re: Drop down boxes with formulas?

I have been working on my problem and think i'm getting close.

    MARTIN SHEETS.xls

I'm having a problem getting the time (4.21) into the box in sheet1.
My formulas keep coming up with errors.

My plan is to add size, weight, grade and connection details (into table 4)as I go along with the times thus building up a database.

    Any help would be apprieciated.
    Thanks,
    Stuart

Hi, first of all make sure the combinations of specifications actually exist in table 4,which it didn't (12.60# VS 12.6#).
You should also delete the trailing space after 4 1/2" 12.60# 13CR80 JFE BEAR PINS in table 4.

    When that is OK, try
