    Hi

Probably a macro will do the trick, but the easiest way to do this is to highlight the sheet(left of A column) and choose Text format.

can not say in excel 2003 but here's in 2010 maybe try it in 2003

    open a new workbook
    format the cells as "text"
save it to folder named xlstart
search for it. "xlstart" folder or counter part folder for xl2003

if you will not be permitted to save in that directory.
save it first to my document and copy paste it there (xlstart)
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

    there is indeed a folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\XLSTART

however, I know that in MS Word, you can change the Normal.dot file, which is the default template for new doc files

is there anything similar for EXCEL?
