    Re: formula help

mate, you would need to change the title of your thread to something like 'display sum conditionally' or some such.

this is quite easy to setup. since you have not uploaded any sample workbook, here is an indication that you can follow:

in the cell when you want the sum to appear, you can use an IF condition and within that you can insert the SUM function. something like this in A2:

    =if(isblank(a1),0,sum(c1:c10))
    - i.s.z -
CSE, aka Array aka { }, formulae are confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER.
Replace commas ( , ) with semicolons ( ; ) in formulae, if your locale setting demands.
All good ideas are courtesy resources from this forum as well as others around the web.

    Re: formula help

    thanks
i have tried this but cant seem to figure it out the highlighted red section is added to the green and the answers need to be in the yellow eg Cell C33 should equal B33 and C31 then cell D33
shouls equal B33+C31+D31 an so on
but in some cases row 31 will have no figures in so i want the cell beneath to remain blank as when this row is added it needs to be acurate
How do i post a sample work book? so you can see?

    Re: 'display sum conditionally'

as far as i can understand what's going on, the syntax is incorrect.

in cell C33, instead of the "=B33+C31:G31", layout the IF condition as follows:

    =IF(C31>1,B33+SUM(C31:G31),0)

mind you, you cannot drag this formula to the right and expect correct results; it is valid only for C33.

i have no financial neuron in my brain, so i haven't the faintest as to what's going on there. put this formula in C33 and see if the result is what you expect it to be. else, revert with input and output values and we will try to get cracking...
