How do I move a line marker on a line column combination chart?

I have a combination line and column chart in Excel 2007.
    There are 2 columns, 1 for 2011 and 1 for 2012.
The data points on the line chart are specific to 2012.
How do I get the 2012 data points to line up with the 2012 column?

Thanks Andy! But I'm not sure how to do the following excerpt in Excel 2007. Chart Options and Axes tab are not available. I tried a bunch of different things - I have no idea how to offset:
"Right click on the chart, and choose Chart Options from the popup menu. Click on the Axes tab, and uncheck both secondary axis checkboxes. Excel figures out how to replot the scatter series points. You might need to adjust the offset for different combinations of gap width and number of column series. For my combination of three column series and a gap width of 100, the offset should be 0.25. For three columns and the default gap width of 150, the offset should be 0.2222 (i.e., 2÷9). A little arithmetic should help you determine the offset for your specific case."

Chart Tools > Layout > Axis > Secondary axis.

You might find, in xl2007+, you just need to format the secondary axes to have no axis labels and tickmarks.

Forgive me if I sound dense... I'm new to charting...
Removing the labels and tickmarks didn't do it.
    How do I offset?

Post an example file of what you have managed so far.
I will take a look see and then explain instructions for xl2007

First the line series needs to be an xy-scatter, unless you want the marker to appear in the center of the 2 columns.

I have added a row of data to be used as the X values. The offset value is in B8.
No need for secondary horizontal axis in this chart. The XY series can be plotted on the primary axis.
