hi all, my first post so please be patient.
when i open a .xls document it looks like its frozen but its not..
i must go to view and toggle fullscreen mode to get the data to appear.
where the data should be it just shows the desktop untill i toggle full screen.
can any one help please?
further more: if i open excel first (new) then click and drag a .xls into it its fine.
This sounds like a problem with Excel. Try reparing the installation and if this fails, uninstall and re-install.

It sounds to me like you are opening a worksheet that is out of the viewing area. Maximize any workbooks you are viewing.

if you could upload a picture of the first screen appearing when you load excel maybe someone can identify the issue .

Hi MP, I did think of this of this and tried it, but when you escape from full-screen, the worksheet goes into hiding again. The OP says that when they toggle full-screen, it appears (or at least that is what I understood from the first post).

Yes abousetta if I go to tools > Full screen then Tools > full screen again all the work appears and work can be done.

Perhaps you have you system to view on multiple screens. I have two monitors and I can drag stuff to the second screen and it won't show on the one I'm working on.
Right click on your desktop and then on Screen Resolution to see if you are using 2 displays.
you can also have the problem I think if the last person that saved the workbook had two screens in a different configuration
