Question how to subtract date and time to get inter-arrival time

    Hi!

I need help in computing for the inter-arrival time of complaints for a particular company. I have the determination time and date. I just need to determine how long it takes before the next complaint comes in. Basically, its just the time between the arrival of complaints, but I need to have it in minutes.

The instructions for getting the inter-arrival time is (1) Sort the queue arrival data is ascending order by arrival time. As an example take the data set of customer arrival time in minutes since store opening: {1, 5, 6, 8, 10}. then, (2) Subtract the arrival time of the first customer from that of the second customer. For the example, 5 -- 1 = 4; so, the inter-arrival time between the first and second customer is 4 minutes. Finishing the example, {4, (6-5), (8-6), (10-8)} = {4, 1, 2, 2}.

I have already sorted the data in ascending order, based on the determination date, then time. I have to do this for 30 data sheets, can anybody please help me with the formulas? and if there is anyway the calculations can be automated? thank you so much.

Re: how to subtract date and time to get inter-arrival time

    Hi whattodo,

Would it not be simply subtraction of first customer's time from second customer's time for that particular day...

    Or I am missing something?
