Excel 2007 : PIVOT Table with Dates - Help Required

I am using Excel 2007. I have a range of Date values with format '9/23/2010 3:10:00 PM'. There are multiple values in the range with with the same date but difference time...I need to create a PIVOT table with unique count on date value. I am not able to do this now...

For example, if i create a PIVOT with the following values

2/2/11 6:27 PM
2/2/11 6:27 PM
2/2/11 6:27 PM
2/2/11 6:41 PM
2/2/11 6:27 PM
2/2/11 6:27 PM
2/2/11 6:27 PM
2/2/11 6:27 PM

I get as many rows as above. What i am expecting is 1 row in the PIVOT with Date 2/2/11 and value as 8...

How do i do this..

i think what you will need to do is create an extra column on your table to just view the date and add this to it =TEXT(a1, "ddmmyy")
