Convert If statement with cell row reference calculations to vlookup statement

    Here is my If statement:

    It resides in column J, and refers to cells in column G, same row, for calculations. J2 & G2, J3 & G3, J10 & G10...
Is it possible to convert this to a vlookup function since I may exceed the number of If conditions "allowed"?

Hi and welcome at the forum

Create a table with 2 columns. One column for the words that you are looking in d2 and one with their values.

Greate a Validation list in D2 and Use LOOKUP or INDEX & MATCH functions to get your results

Re: Convert If statement with cell row reference calculations to vlookup statement

I don't understand. I understand using vlookup to get a simple text or number, but to get a product of a value in a referenced cell, and being able to easily copy the formula down the column while maintaining correct cell referencing is puzzling me.
    D2 G2 J2 (If statement)
    A 176 93.28
    G 180 144
    A 167 88.51
    A 175 92.75
    E 173 173
    A 178 94.34
    C 175 106.75
    A 157 83.21

    Hi excyclist,

I too used to ride and race, then refused to wear spandex...

Find attached the answer I think you are looking for, that Fotis has suggested.

This problem is a little different because you want to return multiples of something or text. I hope it works for you.
