    Vlookup returned value

I need to change the result of value returned by vlookup(text). How can I accomplish this? (as if I copy/paste special) Need to leave original cell unaltered.

Hi Marquisjon, welcome to the forum.

Can you explain a little more in detail what you're trying to accomplish?

You can't convert a cell with a formula to a static value without using the Copy/PasteSpecial command or a macro/event.

    Re: Vlookup returned value

When a description (text) is returned from vlookup and needs modification, instead of re-typing or finding it to copy/paste, was hoping to be able to find a way to have the formula replaced with the returned text. As you stated, might not work.
    Thank you

Yeah, unfortunately (or fortunately!) formulas can't update text values in other cells. If you change the original value that was returned (where it exists in your lookup table), it will obviously update in the VLOOKUP formula.
