    Macros Security

Hopefully I am in the correct forum. This really isn't a programming question so I posted it here.

I copied an .xlsm file from my desktop running Windows XP, where is loads and works perfectly to a Flash Drive and then copied to my laptop running Windows 7 where it opens, but no matter how I configure the security settings it will not run the macros that were in the transferred file.

I can write and execute new macros using the file, but if I save the file and reopen it the macos become inoperable. Any Suggestions?

    Thanks !!

Do you have the same version of XL on both machines? Is the one that doesn't run the macros a full version of Excel? Does the Student version of Excel support VBA? I'm thinking you have missing .dll's on the machine that you want it to work on.

    Hello The Skipper,

You've set the security level on your Windows 7 machine to medium, right?

    Hello The Skipper,

Bring up an excel workbook, then up on the top menu bar you have: file, edit, view, insert, format, and then tools.

    Click on tools>macro>security - medium

I don't think Excel 07 has "file, edit, view, insert, format, and then tools" across the top. I believe that was an earlier version.

    Re: Macros Security

    Hello The Skipper,

Your version is 2003 but your operating system is Windows 07 - or isn't it?

But you can still set your security in Excel 2007 and 2010 - you just have to hunt for it.

I rejected 2007 after about two months of it and reinstalled 2003 so I can't be more specific.
