Excel 2007 : Averaging variable length strings

Hi,

I am trying to find the average values from a table but the number of results for each criteria varies. Column 1 contains the wind speed i.e. 1 , 2 , 3, et al. The number of entries for each wind speed is variable. Column 2 contains the outputs recorded for that wind speed at different times. I am looking for the average output for each wind speed.

Attached is an example spreed sheet.

hi mayj, welcome to the forum. since u are using Excel 2007, u can try:
=AVERAGEIF($A$6:$A$18,A22,$B$6:$B$18)
