Excel Paint Brush and Copy Format stopped working!

For no apparent reason, my Excel Paint Brush and Copy Format stopped working. This problem applies to new and existing spreadsheets. I have rebooted many time without any change. I noticed an old post where someone had the same problem but was unable to find where a resolution had been proposed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You don't need to uninstall Skype - just the Skype Click to Call plugin installed in your browser. You can just close your browser to see if the problem goes away. If it works fine with the browser closed then that is likely the culprit. Disable/uninstall that plugin and get the updated version from Skype.

I just uninstalled the Skype Click to Call plugin and Excel is now working perfectly.

I installed a new update of Skype on the day that the Excel problem first appeared, however, in my mind, there was no way the two situations could be related. What a surprise! You'd think that a company like Sype would be more cautious.
