    did you tried
    =year(A1)

    or

    custom formatting yyyy

    if does'nt work try Data --- text-to-column -- date
    then apply formatting yyyy
maybe your dates are text so convert it to date first.
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

There is a little star ( ADD REPUTATION ) below those person who helped you. Click it to say your "PRIVATE APPRECIATION TO THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS "

    Regards,

    Hi

Yes I've tried all of your suggestions. The 2nd row won't budge!

It's located at the left side of the cell, whereas the 1st row is on the right. The format is General and changing formats dont work either.

    Thanks!

    the text-to-column should do it...

    try this another way

    Copy Any Empty Cell.
Select The Column with your dates then Format As Any Date And/Or Time Format.
While The Column Is Still Selected,
    Go To Edit
    Paste Special
    Values
    Add

another method but using another column just like above.
A1 is where the date.. then you could again paste values in the original column.
    =A1+0 or =A1*1 or =--A1
