Greetings folks, just happened across this forum and thought I would join in. I've been an active Excel and Access user probably since the first release, and still find things that don't seems to make sense now and then.

I have some Excel applications that take data and manipulate it around in different sheets for presentation. I've run across something that seems a little odd.

I have a template file that imports data from our SAP system, then VB mavros that process the data and save the sheet. I've been looking for ways to reduce the file size since we keep these as archives for a while. Since the code is no longer needed I started remove the code module and saving the file a second time, since there isn't an easy way to have the code delete itself. That reduces the file size considerably, say from 1.6M to 1.1M. It seemed like a fairly significant reduction, since there isn't that much code.

One time I simply opened the file and then saved it without removing the code and got the same result. Removing the code reduced the size about another 10k.

This is fairly repeatable. Each time I create a file - weekly, close it, open it and simply save it a second time the file size drops to roughly 60% of what it saved the first time.

Has anyone else ever run across this?

Thanks,

Blair
