Excel 2007 : Want to create an excel calender that auto populates with coloum value

Hi,

I want to create a calender in excel, that auto populates itself using column information.

Lets say, I have 2 columns, one being Date, other being the information with which the calender should populate itself.
Nothing too fancy.
Please help. Would help a great deal.

PS - I am a noob to excel of the first order.
