    Creating buckets based on lookup table

    Hi everyone,

    I am new to the forum and looking forward to introducing myself when I'm not working on an urgent project.
    I have a long list of roles from various companies and they are all being paid different hourly rates. I would like to "bucket" them into new categories based on where their rates are in a given range. Just sorting will not be enough as I will probably have to pivot the data later.

    I thought about doing a long nested if formula, but that is awkward and hard to modify. Ideally, I would be able to create a formula that will look up where the rate fits in another table and return the appropriate category.

    Here is your answer attached. You need a Vlookup with True and the table going from small to large.
