    entering value in cell that is excluded from chart

    I have response data from an analytical instrument that I'm trending;
    some sets of data are outliers and I would like ignore them in the trending chart.

    By using " before the number, they are excluded from mean and standard deviation calculations for the column,
    but no matter what character I use around the number, it is still plotted.
    Putting these outliers into another column uses too much space, but I'd like to retain the values in the spreadsheet.

    Am I out-of-luck here?

    TIA

    Hello & Welcome to the Forum,

    It would make it much easier with this scenario if you provided an example.

    All non numeric data will be treated as zero in a chart. You can use NA() to suppress data markers.

    uses too much space
    Really? A chart is limited to 32k points or 255 series so even using the maximum plotting ability it's not really a lot of data. You can always use another sheet to hold the chart data.
    Cheers
