How to make different series have the same legend description

Why not rename the legends to North 2012, South 2012 & North 2011, South 2011?

I would do that if it was going to stay this small, but I will be adding much more data and it's always going to be North vs. South and would like to keep the legend Clean looking.

You could use a table and then the legend would keep itself tidy.

If you where only allowing for the display of 1 year at a time then you could delete all but the first 2 legend entries. Although you would need to format all the series in the chart correctly

That works but I don't want to have my data viewable, I plan on hiding it, so my goal was to have it so when you used the check boxes it would tidy it up. Don't know if that's possible though.

To control the data table from a different sheet would require VBA.

You did not answer the question about whether you are expecting to display multiple years in a single chart.

I don't need to display different years, the years don't matter to me. The difference between North and South is all I plan on showing in my graph at one given time, that is, there will be two lines, one for North, one for South, everytime the data is populated in the graph. I just want to make it so that I don't have multiple Norths and multiple Souths in the legend becuase that would be way too cluttered for the amount of data I will eventually have.

Then use option button instead of checkbox and pick the values from the data table for the appropriate year
