Using Background picture, want to change fill to transparent

I uploaded a dark picture as my background for my excel sheet. I changed my font to white so it displays nicely against the background. When I go to type in a cell the cell becomes white (matching my font) while I am typing and I cannot see what I am typing. Once I exit out it goes back to the background color, but this can cause typos since I cannot see what am typing. Can I change this effect to be transparent? If I mess with fill colors it covers up my picture background. If it matters, using excel 2010
