To copy expressions enclosed between < > symbols

    Hi all:

    Please, I need help.

In all cells of a column I have texts similar to the following:

    <MONTE>, <BOSQUE> DE TIPO INDEFINIDO <TIPO>.

I need to copy all expressions enclosed in < > symbols, regardless of what is written in the rest of each one of the cells. Is there a macro to do this?

Of course, thank you very much.

If you have single instances of < & > in a cell, use
    =MID(A1,SEARCH("<",A1)+1,SEARCH(">",A1)-2)

Re: To copy expressions enclosed between < > symbols

    Hello Ace_XL:

Thank you very much for your kind and quick response. But something strange happens with my Excel:
    *
I insert the auxiliary column. I copy and paste the formula in the first cell. I extend down to the end and ... all the auxiliary cells in the column are filled with formula.

    Can you see what happens?

    Again, thank you very much.

Re: To copy expressions enclosed between < > symbols

    Dear martindwilson:

In my previous response, and because of my joy, I told you that the formula worked perfectly, but ... who not working perfectly am I.

    My problem is this:

I do not know how to apply the formula to more than one column!

I want to apply the formula as in the example you have given me (extract between.xls‎).

Can you tell me how to do it step by step?

    Thank you very much.
