    How to stop excel to increment horizontal

    I have a a vlookup formula and I always have to match A2 but when I copy and place the formula to the next column it change to C2

    before Copy

    If I do F4 it will prevent me to increment going down (vertical). Thanks in advance

    you can fix just the column

    =VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet1!$A$4:CL407,8,FALSE)

    (I don't know if you deliberately left CL407 relative?)

    or better
    =index(Sheet1!h$4:h$407,match($a2,Sheet1!$A$4:$a$407,0))

    assuming you want to change the return column as you copy across
