Editing a drop down list

Hi Everyone,
I set up a drop down menu (pick from list) and now I need to add another option - how do you add to aan existing drop down without deleting what you have already entered?

Extend the data validation list to include your last cell

e.g.
=$G$1:$G$8 will become =$G$1:$G$9 to include Cell G9
