    Question Not Responding

I'm at my wits end with a problem and hope someone can help.

I am a Sys Admin and where I work my users are using XP 32bit, Office 2007. A week ago I had a users PC bug out and had to recreate her user profile which fixed the problem she originally was having, but now for some reason she is unable to open any Excel files via double clicking on the document. Every time she does explorer becomes non-responsive and the window must be shut down. Oddly enough though the documents can be opened via opening Excel, and then opening the document inside of Excel.

Can someone explain to me why this might happen? I've re-installed Office and am still having the issue which leads me to believe that the problem lies within a windows configuration, or possibly something with her profile (which is auto generated by windows on first log-in).

    Any ideas?

Maybe Excel Options > Advanced, General, untick Ignore other applications that use DDE
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

The setting you suggested was already off. Any other ideas?

    Talking Re: Not Responding

Fixed: The fix for this issue is to go into c:\documents and settings\"user name"\application data\microsoft and delete the normal.dot file (which is mearly some starting parameters when starting a new document). Apparently this file (when corrupt) can really mess with your system.

    @ jaywenzel

Based on your last post it seems that you solved your problem but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED. I'll do that for you now but please keep in mind for your future threads that Rule #9 requires you to do that yourself. If your problem has not been solved you can use Thread Tools (located above your first post) and choose "Mark this thread as unsolved".
    Thanks.
