    =Countif Question

    Hello,

    I have 2 colums,

    column A has 4 different names, column b has different items (see below)

    How to I use a Countif statement to see how many TELE items belong to ben, how many internet's belong to bob etc.

    Attached is an example workbook based on the criteria described.
    It contains three different ways of getting the results you're looking for.

    The first is with a Countifs formula (Excel 2007 and higher only). In cell F4 and copied down:

    The second is with a Sumproduct formula (backwards compatible). In cell J4 and copied down:

    The third is with a pivot table.

    You can use whichever you like best.
