Create drop down that also fills in corresponding information

I have a fairly elaborate spreadsheet going. I want my drop down for one cell to automatically populate corresponding information in the next column.
For instance when I select an employee from the drop down, I want the next column to automatically populate with the employees wage. How do I do that?
