    Delivery Schedule in Excel

I need some help and I'm not exactly sure where to post this.

I have over 100 customers and some of them need a delivery every week. Others need delivery every two weeks. Some, every three weeks and so on. We usually go to the same customer on the same day every week, depending on what date holidays fall. We have multiple trucks that make deliveries. What I need is to make sure a customer isn't skipped or forgotten. I want to be able to come in on a Monday and see the list of deliveries that are going out on Tuesday in Excel. If I see a customer listed for delivery, and we don't have an order, I want to be ale to contact them or the salesperson to find out why. How can I do this? If I have to make separate Excel files per truck, that's fine too.

Any help or ideas would be great. I'm very clueless with Macros and Visual Basic.

    I'm using Excel 2007.

    Hi Len,

Be quite honest there are probably a 100 or so ways to go with a project like this (okay maybe not 1 100, but you get the idea).

A sample file would help tremendously would a good representation of what you have and what you desire...

You may not even need VBA, it's possible formulas with a mix of conditional formatting may do the trick...

    To Attach a File:

    1. Click on Go Advanced
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.
    HTH
    Regards, Jeff

    Re: Delivery Schedule in Excel

    Jeff,
I can have the customer list in any row and column format. I can have a column added for truck or day. Whatever will work best. Right now my customer list looks like this across the columns...

Customer ID, Name, Address1, Address2, City, State, Zip Code

I'll try what you suggested above. What would be the next steps?

    Hi Len,

Your file didn't have any instructions or wants in it, so not much to go off of. Let's start with this.

Do you want to open the file and see highlighted any deliveries within one day of opening the file?

So example, on Thursday you open the file to see what is due on Friday?

    Jeff,
Going off of what you put in, I basically want the file to tell me that every Tuesday, I need to go to Mike's Pizza. Then, let's say, every two weeks, on a Wednesday, I need to go to John's Deli. Then every three weeks I need to go to Joe's Pizza on a Thursday. How would I set that up? It would need to be continuous for years.

The column saying Orders doesn't need to be there.

    Hi Len,

I have racked my brain on this one, but alas, nothing is happening.

My first thought, three weeks from when? How to tell Excel it has been three weeks. Not so sure, so I will put out a cry for help the other guru's plus I will be heading out the door soon.

    Re: Delivery Schedule in Excel

If it's easier to have it do every week, that's fine. I can put a comment next to the customer when their last delivery was so I know when they'll be due again.

    Re: Delivery Schedule in Excel

    Hi Len,

This is the best I can think. Next time you deliver to one of your customers, place the delivery date in column H.

Column I holds the occurrence while column J holds the next delivery date plus the occurrence.

One day prior to the next delivery date the row turns red.

That looks like it'll work. Thanks! I'll play with it over the next few days and let you know!
