Dragging Vlookup fromula across and down

    Hi

I have the formula =VLOOKUP(A2,'ONS 2011'!$C$1:$L$292,COLUMN('ONS 2011'!B2),FALSE), which lets me drag it accross to pick the value in the next column i.e. 'ONS 2011'!C2' and so on. I would like to have the look value in A2 be locked going accros, but to chnge to A2, A3, as I drag it down.

In other words I would like A2 to be locked ($A$2) going accross rows, but change to $A$3, $A$4, $A$5 and so on going down the columns.

    Thanks

    Regards

    Cortlyn

Just use 1 $ in front of what you want locked. So you want rows to change but not the column use $A2 (F4 is a shortcut which runs through the different configurations)

substitute commas with semi-colons if your region settings requires
