I am functional novice excel user

I need to be able to quantify how many shirts per size with the quantity per number

Example small shirt total 10, five with #5, two with #4, three with #8

Any help would be appreciated. Needed for number 1 thru 99

you need to do some research into usung the sumif() and sumifS() functions. if you still have a problem, as suggested, upload a sample workbook
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Well, that's a too little information for me at least.

I just changed my mind, I try and guess and make something...

This workbook contains a basic example of the excel feature Table and the Excel feature Pivot Table.

Re: Shirt sizing and numbering

Attached is the spreadsheet

To clarify, I will have approx 500 players that will have a number on there shirt, multiple sizes might have the same number so I need to be able to know by size how many as an example youth medium shirts there are that need number 4 or how many adult small shirts need number 56

Attached is what I have started

Let me know

Re: Shirt sizing and numbering

I used some random formulas to fill in some random data. My first option was Pivot tables, a feature that should be used a lot more.
It worked fine, seen on sheet2.

Next I tried the Consolidate feature. Worked just as well. Both the pivot table and the consolidate are fairly easy to use but takes a while to get to know. The advantage is that they have no problems with player numbers being removed or added. The disadvantage is that they need to be updated. On the pivot table, right click and choose refresh. On the consolidation feature you have to run it all over again.

And finally I gave SUMIF a try.
If the list of player numbers is not to change a lot then the SUMIF formula is by far the most efficient. Updates immediately and is easier to get to know. Should those player numbers change, you need update the formula accordingly.
