    Need to look up a name in one column and return a maximum value from the next column

    I have a list of names of different people in one column. Their names occur more than once in the list. The list is not sorted alphabetically. In the next column are values for amounts they have spent on different occasions.

    I want a formula that helps me to identify the maximum value they spent from their multiple entries in the list.

    Please see attached workbook. I'd really appreciate your help woth this. I use Excel 2007.

    Based on your last post it seems that you are satisfied with the solution(s) you've received but you haven't marked your thread as SOLVED.
