Question How to delete figures only from a column?

A long column contains city names and zip codes.

I need city names only. I am deleting figures replacing figures from 0 to 9 by nothing (10 replacements for the whole column all together). But I am convinced there is an easier method.

What is the quickest way to delete figures only from a column containing figures and letters?

    Thank you.

hi vitruvian, welcome to the forum. you can try doing an Autofilter. Data -> Filter. then filter "greater than 0" you should see only the numbers appearing. highlight them & press ALT + ; to select visible cells to delete, just in case

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

    Hi benishiryo,

Thank you for your warm welcome. Seems to be a great community.

Regarding your reply: I've tried filtering earlier. I am using Excel for Mac 2011.

Clicking on Data -> Filter there is no possibility to filter "greater than 0".

    The options are:

    By cell value
    By cell color
    By font color
    By icon

    or

Advanced filter... but not possibility to enter greater than 0.

Re: How to delete figures only from a column?

Solution offered by benishiryo did not help. Excel for Mac 2011 does not have greater than 0 option in Data/Filter.

    Any other idea maybe?

Re: How to delete figures only from a column?

    try this formula:
    =MID(TRIM(A1),FIND(" ",TRIM(A1))+1,255)

as suggested, upload a closer example so that we can anaylse the patterns if this doesnt work
