    Numbers auto-formatting in blue text

    Hello!

An unfortunate thing has happened to my numbers - they default in blue text. This came about after a window flashed for a second asking if I wanted to change some setting. As I was typing furiously, I missed the window (and what it said) and accidentally confirmed some format change. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to restore default formats for Excel 2010 so appear to be stuck. Interestingly, paintbrush on numbers that I've changed to black text does not change the blue numbers to black.

Any suggestions? I almost rein-stalled Office out of frustration but figured I should check for a more elegant solution first.

    Thank You,
    Z

    Hi

Have a look at the default template that you are using you may have changed that to blue inwhich case change it back to black. Im clutching at straws but it is the only thing that I can think of so try changing templates and see if that solves the problem.

    Hope it helps

Thanks for your response. I played with the templates and unfortunately the blue numbers live on. Curiously, even if I open up one of the random MS-loaded templates (calendars, etc.) any numbers I add end up in blue

    I appreciate the suggestion....

Re: Numbers auto-formatting in blue text

I seemed to have solved the problem by deleting the following registry keys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\excel &
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\excel

Hopefully that won't mess with anything else.... Thank for your help everyone.
