is it possible when we filter an option in pivot table then the data source is filtered?

    hi all,

if we have range from A1 to H10 and we pivot it..then we put column B and C as filter option in pivot table,

then when we choose to filter column B in pivot.. then suddenly in our data column B is filter as well with same option that what we choose in pivot table?

is it possible something like this?

    thanks

Re: is it possible when we filter an option in pivot table then the data source is filtere

    Hi Koi,

I, too, am interested in doing this. There is a way if you follow the instructions set out here:

    http://www.contextures.com/xlPivot-F...urce-Data.html

It works fine within the provided example, but you have to double-click within the fields of the Pivot Table, which is not exactly what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something that I would consider more simple...well it would seem more simple! ...which is to set the filter(s) on the source data to that of the Pivot Table Report Filter(s). Is this what you are after too? If it is, I will bear you in mind if I find something and post it here...perhaps you could do the same? I am considering trying to amend the code provided from the above, if I can get my head around it. Again, if I do and I can get it to work, I will post here.

Good luck and I hope the above assists you.

    thanks for the info,

and yes i'm looking something that if you filtered in pivot table then the source data is filtered as well,

but i found my solution, the solution is to create the custom formula within the pivot table and not using the standard formula like avg, sum etc
