Compare two data sheets for common entries

    Hello All,

I have two data sheets containing approximately 11000 and 8700 entries respectively. I need to compare the data sheets such i find out the common entries and unique entries. Sheet 1 has a unique column containing age data and sheet 2 has that of NARI No( an ID number of my project). I tried using vlookup but failed doing so. i am a biologist with little knowledge of excel. please help.

    thank you!

With your dataset, is it possible to add the NARI No. to Sheet 1? That would give a unique identifier to each row and allow you to use a vlookup. Otherwise, I don't see a matching unique ID to use for comparison.

Yes possibly you could try it. The 8000 odd entries in sheet 2 are present in 11000 odd entries of sheet 1. I need to sort out those common entries because age is the vital data present in sheet 1. It would be too tedious to manually go through every entry in sheet 1 and sheet 2 just to add age info in sheet 2.

Actually can we merge the House hold number and respondent number. In that case it becomes a unique ID instead of NARI number.
