    Question Coding and Reverse Coding a Questionnaire

    Hi there! Just hoping someone can give me some advice on how to code and reverse code an excel file.

    Basically I will have a set of data in which each column represents a question.

    Column B -Question 1
    Column C - Question 2
    Column D - Question 3

    etc etc

    My problem is that while question 1 and 2 will be coded by;
    Agree = 1.....Disagree = 5

    Question 3 will be the opposite
    Agree = 5.....Disagree = 1

    If anyone can explain (as simply as possible, I am a total newbie and have no idea of how to use formulas etc. ) how I would code these, I would REALLY appreciate it?

    The questionnaire is likely to have 150+ questions and I don't think doing find and replace 5 times per column will work out too well!

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Coding and Reverse Coding a Questionnaire

    Sorry, apologies I should have made it clearer.

    The questionnaire is completed using a google docs form...with answers like Agree, Disagree etc. I need to find a way to code these verbal answers into numbers (1-5), while at the same time making sure that each question (column) is coded either 1-5 or for the reverse code 5-1.

    Again, any advice is most welcome!
