How to link two sheets in two separate Excel files

Hi, I want to make an exact copy of a sheet from a source file, and maintain the feasibility of automatic update so that both sheets will always have the same contents.

To make this work, I copied the original sheet and then Paste Special -> Paste Link. This made the Excel crash all the time which said the Memory Resource is not enough.

Is there a better way to link two sheets in two files?

    Thanks.

Why not copy (not move) the sheet itself to a separate workbook?

Assume you have two workbooks, Book1 and Book2 and you want A1 of Sheet 1 to equal A1 of Sheet 2. Use this formula in Book 1, Sheet1, Cell A1:
    =[Book2]Sheet1!A1

Copy the formula, right and down as appropriate

    NOTE:
The workbooks will be much faster if both workbooks are open instead of working with only one file open
Click on star (*) below if this helps

The problem is that if I just copy, the data in the new sheet will be static, without automatic update when the data in the original source change in the future.
