    Workbook protection

I am used to using the older versions of excel without the stinking ribbon and now I am having all kinds of issues. I have not messed with it in a while so I may have just forgot, but how do I go about making the file read only? I have set a password under the permissions tab but all it does is protect the structure and not the content. I want all users to be able to view the file, but have to have the password to edit any of the sheets or data on the sheets. Am I missing something stupid here or did excel make changes for the worse? I can still protect the individual sheets, but that doesnt quite do what I want. My VBA knowledge is very limited, so if this is required, speak slowly and use small words......

    Re: Workbook protection

    Hi Country101,

You need to first lock the worksheet (should be default) and then you need to protect worksheet... same way we used to older versions (till excel 2003)
Under Review ribbon menu, you'll find all required options

You can also do " password to open" here and for this... you can go to File -> Info -> permissions section. Thanks.
