Constantly getting "not responding" when using Excel 2010

Recently bought a new Toshiba Satellite laptop with 8gb RAM and i7 processor. Installed Office 2010 and imported a spreadsheet from Excel 2000. I'm attempting to revise the data, which was going along OK at first. But now every time I try to enter new information I get the little blue circle of doom, along with the message "not responding." I then lose any information I didn't previously save.

hard to say what's going on there without seeing what you are working with, but give this a shot.

open the file, then open a new blank file.
copy/paste the data from the old file to the blank file.
save the blank file, close it, then reopen and proceed as you were with the old file
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
