Help needed in linking worksheets to a master worksheet list

    Hi all,

I have little excel knowledge, so the similar the reply the better!

I am faced with the task of creating an excel spreadsheet listing everyone buying a balloon for a school balloon race along with their contact number, name etc.

Their are four houses at school so I have created these 4 worksheets and then a master worksheet.

I am looking for a way as to when I input into the 4 individual worksheets, that they will then appear on the master worksheet in balloon number order.

I feel I have explained this terribly! Say I was to add balloon number 732 to one of the worksheets, can I then make this appear on the master under 732?

Any help will be greatly received for an inexperienced user!

    Thanks

Re: Help needed in linking worksheets to a master worksheet list

    Good Morning,

You can "link" the cells from one spreadsheet into another. If you go to the "Summary sheet" and select the cell where you want the information to be located, add = then go to the sheet where the information is located and click that cell, it will create a link to the information entered into the sheet 1 cell.

    example:

    ='C:\Folder name\\[sheet name.xlsx]cell location'!$D$13'

This is an example, it is the formula excel will place into the cell. You will not need to type this formula, just click where you want the information to show on the summary sheet and begin with "=" sign. If you want to carry the formula down or across, simple drag to the cells and it will copy the formula to the new cells.

    I hope this helps.

I updated your spreadsheets and attached. Didn't see them until after I posted. Check the attachment, and yes, do the = in the first cell, then you can drag and copy across. Excel will actually update the formula for the information!

    Good luck, hope this helps.
