excel red fill with white text when copying sheet

    Hi,

Please help. Under Excel 2010 whenever I copy an existing sheet to a new workbook, excel formats the text as white, fill as Red, and borders as Green. This never happened under prior Excel versions. I've searched for a solution and can;t find any. Please help. All my sheet have no borders, no fill and black text.

    Thank

Thank you for the reply. I know how to fix it. My question is how to prevent this. Need Excel to retain source format. Plus where us this weird scheme coming from?

check under options, see if there is anything there for formatting "new" sheets/books?

also, not 100% sure of this, but i dont think its a good idea to format an entire sheet. for a start off, it will make your last row/column to be the very last cell on the sheet, and make the scroll bars almost un-usable. It will also probably be very heavy on system resources, too. it's far better to just apply formats to where you need them
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

No formatting applied to source sheet. It was create in the "default" formatting when creating a new sheet/workbook. I don't see anything under options/advanced. Is there a way to attach an attachment here so you folks can see what I'm talking about?

yes, i saw that My post was directed at Murph (or you if you went that route)

i have a feeling that if you upload a file, whatever setting i have, will be applied to that file when I open it (it sounds like a global setting)

Thanks for the advice. But this is a corporate laptop. I don't have the authority to do that.

you might try hunting down a file called book1.xltx. If you don't find it, create one, with all your settings "fixed" to the way you want Excel to open. Then save it in the templates folder (something like {User}\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates) or the XLStart folder ({user} application data\microsoft\excel\xlstart).

then shut down Excel and re-start it. See if that helps. (can't hurt).
