Disable drag to copy function on single workbook only

    Hi,

I have an Excel 2010 workbook that is used by a team of people. I am finding that people keep filtering the data and then using the copy/drag funciton (where you grab the handle of the cell and drag down). This keeps knocking out the conditional formatting. I would like to disable this feature but only for that workbook. Disabling it via OPTIONS > ADVANCED seems to change the default for all workbooks for a single user. Does anyone konw if it's possible to limit it to just the workbook and have the funcation disabled for anyone that opens the spreadsheet? I can't do it via sheet protection as the users do need to change the entries in the cells.

    Thanks in advance.

Without some-one giving you some VBA code for this, I dont think you can turn this off for just "this" workbook.

If people are making changes to cells, are these changes being saved? If not, you could still use sheet protection, and password protect the workbook using read-only. This will allow others to open and make changes to the workbook, but not to save the changes
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Thanks FDibbins. This is a central register so I need to be able to allow users to make changes to cells and save them. VBA sounds like the way to go. I'm still getting the issue of the VBA code changing all open workbooks so I will post a thread in the programming forum. Thanks for your help/.
