i need help on searching and counting a certain word on a column.
for example, everyone that lives on Pennsylvania has to be counted.
the addresses on the cells are in this format:

hi there, welcome to the forum. if there's always a space before & after:
=COUNTIF(A1:A10,"*Pennsylvania*")
if not, try:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(ISNUMBER(SEARCH(" Pennsylvania "," "&A1:A10&" "))))

is this formula case sensitive?
