    Golf Tournament & Skins Pot

    Hello all,
I'm hosting a golf tournament that will have 60 golfers separated into 3 flights (A,B,& C). I have a workbook that I'm playing around with, trying to get it to do what I need it to do. The problem that I can't get passed is this:

Not every golfer will be in the skins competition. So I need excel to only recognize the golfers with the "$" when determining the skins winners for each hole. I also need the skins winner for each hole to be highlighted in red. And for the winning skin to be reported on the skin winners line. After that I think I might be okay. If you see other mistakes or things that might make my life easier I will gladly take all suggestions.

    Skins Rules
    1. Only "$" golfers can win skins.
    2. You can only win a hole with a par or better score.
    3. There are no carry overs to the next hole.

    Thanks In Advance

Re: Golf Tournament & Skins Pot

Thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately that didn't completely fix my problem. There are a few things that you must consider.
    1. Only golfers with a "$" beside their name can win a skin. If you look at cell s5, that is a skins winner. There are other scores with a 3 but they are not in the skins pot. The command has to be able to factor that in.
    2. I have manually highlighted the skins winners in red to show what i want. But I'm looking for this to happen automatically.
    3. Also i noticed that the workbook was saved as a 97-03 workbook. Could it be because I'm using 2010 that it's not functioning correctly?

Once again thanks for all your help.

Re: Golf Tournament & Skins Pot

    Thanks for all your help.

Peitbom what you did for my book as amazing and will be real useful. JO505 your sheet will work best in my golf club when we start the new year off. We use handicaps in the club but not in this tourney.

I have nearly completed my workbook. Except for the skins portion of it. I forgot to mention last time that I also am looking for the skins won by each golfer to be counted into the cells right b4 the skins column. (On the AGROUP Sheet that would be the X column).

Examples from my attached sheet would be: AGROUP Sheet - Golfer Ridges has won 3 skins. I want a 3 to pop up in cell X4.
Golfer Maldonado has won only 1 skins so a 1 should pop up in the X3 cell.

Any assistance on this matter, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Again,
    J-Mos

Sorry I didn't include the attachment. Sheet has slightly changed since last time. That one is my fault.

I tried importing what you did, so I wouldn't have to ask again. But it would not come out right.

    Thanks Again,
    J-Mos

    Hi J-Mos,

Look under the first table on the first sheet to see if my formula in C35 helps.

Re: Golf Tournament & Skins Pot

Nice try but no cigar. I already have a formula at the bottom that will count up the skins. (Yours by the way gives a skin to golfers who gets a 4 on a par 3).

There are a few parameters that u must follow.

    1. Each golfers total number of skins must go in the X column.
    2. If no skins are won for that golfer, the field can be left blank or enter a dash.
    3. The number in the x column will be multiplied by cell Y30 and appear on the skins tab in the appropriate cell. (think i can accomplish that).

example: use my sheet and change cell G3 to a 4. TAB over and the cell will turn red. Once that turn red (here's where I get stuck at)I need for a 1 to appear in cell X3. If you were to continue and change cell K3 to a 3. TAB over & the cell will turn red, & the 1 in cell X3 should turn to a 2.

Pietbom had the concept down, just couldn't get it to work on this copy. Don't know if he used some VBA codes or not.

    Thanks again

    Adjusted a lot of formulas.
P.S. I did not use VBA at all.

Re: Golf Tournament & Skins Pot

that worked but encountered another issue. When I ran a completed golf tournament test I noticed this issue:

If a golfer is not in the skins pot on day 1 (The Rookery), and and decides to enter the skins pot on day 2. Their cells will not turn red on the second course on day 2 (The Bay Club).

Example: AGROUP golfer on row 8 (Bonilla) is not in the skins competition on day 1 (Note no "$" in cell Y8). But enters it on day 2, ("$" appears in cell AX8). The formulas are totaling it correctly in cell AW8, but is not turning cells AF & AQ red.

If this is starting to be to much.... I understand about to drive myself crazy over here.

    Thanks again

Re: Golf Tournament & Skins Pot

    Hey J-Mos,

Find your final answer in the attached. The $ work as well as the names. You can NOT have any two people with the same first name as my formulas work with first names only. Look at rows 35 and 36 of the attached and study what they do.

    J-Mos,

The error was in the conditional formatting.
    I solved it in rev.5

P.S. Do you still follow how i solve your questions ? Do you just receive the solutions or are you also learning from it ?

Anyhow, i am learning from it. So i am not yet going crazy
