Creating a searchable database for Venue's Artist Roster

I've just taken over the role of General Manager for a start-up music venue.
I'm trying to establish a comprehensive database for Artist Booking that uses a searchable excel spreadsheet based on certain criteria.

The spreadsheet needs to display the below information for each of the artists:
-Name
-Type (DJ / Band / Solo / Duo)
-Genre
-Artist Location
-Fee
-Audience Rating
-Our Rating
-Date last played
-Contact details

Ideally, I'd like there to be a "home page" with a search box that enables us to enter a specific requirement e.g. "Fee - <1000" or "House DJ." When the search results are returned, I'd like to see all that artist's information to enable us to book efficiently. The rating system will enable us to establish which artists were popular with audiences and compare them against our own personal rating helping us make better decisions in future.

Does anybody have a template that roughly aligns with my need, or does anyone have the time to build this database? We are more than happy to pay for the work if it meets all our needs. Thanks for your time, Please don't hesitate to ask for any further information.

Regards
Adam

Welcome to the forum Adam. You may wish to consider running your query using the MS Query that is shipped with excel. Here is a link on that will work for you.

Hi avooght and welcome to the forum

Not sure if any-one has a template for what you want, but it doesnt sound like it would be too hard to create it.

perhaps it would be easier to help you if you uploaded a sample workbook, showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome would be, and how you would arrive at that (remove any confidential info if necessary).
To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Re: Creating a searchable database for Venue's Artist Roster

Thank you for the responses and kind words. I've put together this (basic) outline of how I see the data and search engine looking. It's completely formula free, and is just a design template. Does anyone think they can make this a useable database?

Thanks in advance

Still believe that given your current layout of the db, that MS query is your easiest solution. Here is a note on how to make it work on a MAC
