    Help on attached txt file

    Hi All

The attached example text file is a report on equipment status. This file shows only two sets of equipment this can be anything up to 20.

Each tool header shows tool ID, availability, MTTR, MTBF etc etc. I have to manually import this data into excel. Is there any easy way to import this data. for example see below

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    | | | UP TIME | SCHED DOWN TIME | UNSCHED DOWN TIME | |
    | EQUIPMENT | | % of Total # | % of Total # | % of Total # | % Predict % |
    |LOCATION TYPE ID | MTBF MTTR | Total Hours Occ. | Total Hours Occ. | Total Hours Occ. | Available Variance |
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    F3CMP 3CMP F3CMP02 74.0 10.0 55.3 92.9 9 32.8 55.0 11 11.9 20.1 2 77.0 -21.7

I copy each tool information above then text to columns. This would go onto separate excel tabs by work week so I can then plot tool availability, MTTR, MTBF, unsched counts etc. Obviously this takes time for each tool. Any help to try and automate would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi dtgheath,

Please edit your thread title so that it becomes clear what you are asking in the question - may be you can say "text - to -column help" or "importing data from text to excel" etc. Thanks.

Re: Help on importing txt file

This is an example for importing a txt-file using VBA
On sheet TxT you must first enter the path and the txt-filename.
Then you can click the button [Import txt file]
After importing you can do smart filtering in this data to get your specific info.
